Tii Translation for the Ages: Scripture Heals Family Divide

Everyone in town knew that Alonso* hadn’t spoken to his mother for 13 years after a public dispute. Alonso’s cousin, Ena — who is a Bible translator for the Tii language — had talked to him about the matter many times. But Alonso refused to listen — or to forgive.

While Ena and other translation team members were in Alonso’s town to test Scripture portions, Alonso asked Ena to lead a time of praise and worship for his young son’s birthday party. Ena eagerly led the group in mother tongue praise songs; and encouraged them from God’s Word to remember they are His children, beloved and shaped by His character.

Alonso’s heart was so touched by the Holy Spirit during this time that he got up, approached his mother, and asked her forgiveness in front of his astonished guests. Then, as family members and friends celebrated his son’s birthday, they also rejoiced as with Alonso as God restored his relationship with his mother.

Please pray that God’s Word in the Tii language will touch the hearts of all Tii speakers and consider becoming a prayer partner for the Tii New Testament translation project.
