FAQs
Got questions about OneVerse? We’ve got answers!
-
Who is The Seed Company and how did it start?
Wycliffe Bible Translators USA formed The Seed Company in 1993 with the vision to creatively network God’s people around the world for the purpose of translating the Bible in every language for His glory.
Through partnerships with SIL International, American Bible Society, JESUS Film Project, Faith Comes by Hearing, other Wycliffe organizations and local ministries (churches, denominations and mission groups) The Seed Company effectively accelerates the translation of God’s Word into the heart languages of those without the written Scriptures.

What does it mean to be a OneVerse partner?
You, as a OneVerse partner, will be joining hands with others who place a high value on God’s Word and share the vision to see everyone on earth have the Scriptures available in a language that speaks to their heart. As a network of people, you will have the unique opportunity to see translation projects started AND completed in just a few years.
-
What specifically does my OneVerse gift provide?
Your OneVerse gift funds six major steps to bring God’s Word to a new heart language. They are:
-
Creating a first draft translation of the text
-
Forming a language team to review the first draft of the
translation -
Testing the new draft of the translation within the
indigenous community -
Checking the translation by translating the draft back
into English or another major language -
Professional language consultants to review and check the
translation -
A final check of the translation prior to publication
Undergirding each of these project steps are training and mentoring, consultation for translators, computers, printers, translation software, office supplies, transportation, salaries or the equivalent and other necessities.

-
What portion of my gift will go directly to supporting the translation effort?
OneVerse works hard to keep costs low through partnerships, efficiency of scale and organizational capacity. 81% of OneVerse gifts are used for translation projects and activities directly related to the process of Bible translation, with 19% being used for administration, operations and communication.
-
Is the cost of translation the same in every country?
No. Because of the higher level of involvement of nationals in some languages as well as the cost of living and working in other languages, the cost of translation does vary from country to country. OneVerse averages the costs across all language groups that we serve. This allows us to fully meet the financial needs of every language group.
-
Can a verse really be translated for $26?
Yes. Within the context of a language project, and because of partnerships that The Seed Company has with other ministries who actually provide infrastructure, support and education, the actual activities of the stated translation process can be done for $26 per verse.
-
Can I choose a specific verse to be translated?
Every inspired word in the Bible is critical, especially when someone has never heard God’s Word in their heart language. When you become a OneVerse partner, you will be assigned the next verse in need of being sponsored for your chosen people group. That way all verses will be sponsored and a project fully funded for completion.
-
Can I pick any people group in the world to support?
To ensure that all projects started are fully funded and managed to successful completion, a limited number of Seed Company projects are designated as OneVerse people groups. You will be able to choose from those available people groups. The more OneVerse partners we have, the more people groups we can fund and begin the good work of accelerated Bible translation.
-
Is it possible for me to do more?
Yes! Here are some ways you can become more involved:
Become an advocate – Organize a OneVerse presentation in your church, your Sunday School, your Bible Study, your campus group or your home group.
Pray – Pray for the translators, consultants and especially the people group that you are assisting in getting the Scriptures in their mother tongue.
Give above and beyond – A list of contribution opportunities can be found online at http://www.oneverse.org/give.

What is Automatic Funds Transfer (AFT) or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)?
Automatic Funds Transfer (AFT) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) are a safe, easy money-saving alternative to mailing in a check each month. And it increases the impact of your OneVerse partnership. Every OneVerse partner who switches to AFT or EFT giving saves printing, processing and postage costs. That means more is available to help with the cost of Bible translation. With this plan your gift is sent directly from your bank account or debit card to The Seed Company. You will have the freedom to cancel participation at any time. If you are interested in this service, call 866-One-Verse (866-663-8377).
-
Can I make my donation by credit card?
Yes, if you are interested in giving your OneVerse donations by credit card, call 866-One-Verse (866-663-8377), or visit www.oneverse.org.
-
Will my most recent gifts be reflected on my current statement?
Yes, we make every effort to reflect recently received gifts on your current statement. If your gift is received after the statement was processed, the gift will appear on your next statement.
-
Are there other options besides sending my gifts on a monthly basis?
You may send your gifts monthly, quarterly or annually.
-
How often will I receive a statement?
You will receive a statement based on how often you send your gifts.
For example, if you send your gifts annually, you’ll receive a statement once a year. If you send your gifts monthly, you will receive a statement every month. The only exception is if you send your gifts through Automatic Funds Transfer, Electronic Funds Transfer or by credit card payment; then you’ll receive quarterly statements.
